A tumultuous week

This has been a tumultuous week with demonstrations across the world following the death of George Floyd in the USA.

Hodgkin House has a heritage of supporting people from all over the world to come to Bristol for education and development and I was reminded this week of other horrific events in the past that had been marked in Hodgkin House in some way.

We have a plaque by our front door that commemorates the sad loss of Martin Luther King in 1968, an event that marked a change across the world.

Martin Luther King III has recently been interviewed following the riots in the USA and said;

When you are angry, and respond out of anger, you’re generally not going to have the best response. I always hope that I am giving love whenever I go out into the world. Whatever my message is I hope it comes through in the spirit of love and not in the spirit of antagonism and hate. Even if one doesn’t agree with me, I hope they receive what I say in love. Dad used to teach us that you can disagree without being disagreeable. That was his mantra’.

What a wonderful philosophy to emulate and follow.
