The 'new normal'

Wow! What weather we have seen this week, fantastic thunderstorms and lightening as we come to the end of Spring and head into Summer with the Summer Solstice on June 21 – the longest day of the year – this is a time of growth for everything!

All of the rain has proven to be very beneficial for our garden, our little veggie plot is coming along nicely, with beans threading their way up the poles. We were pleased to be asked to add some photos of the garden to the Secret Gardens website and Instagram, as the expected weekend of visits to gardens last weekend had to be cancelled due to Covid-19.

The signs of growth in the garden are similar to the signs of growth in our high streets, it’s been strange seeing people out and about, getting their morning coffee and croissant, and the shops closed for so long are starting to open up – albeit with some very long queues!

So, we’ve been rethinking our social distancing measures and have installed a one way system in parts of the house and opened up other communal rooms for limited numbers of people as we grow into the ‘new normal’. This has been very popular as students are starting to venture out a bit more than before, its been lovely to see everyone and have the opportunity for a chat at a safe distance.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
